Our message

BC RCMP is the largest Division in the country, with approximately one-third of the entire force located in British Columbia. More than 9.000 employees proudly serve in BC providing municipal, provincial and federal policing in areas that range from isolated Aboriginal communities and coastal villages to major cities.

One of the biggest issues surrounding mental health is the stigma that is attached to talking about it that shames people into silence and hidden anguish. BC RCMP is joining forces with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) to help change the conversation by participating in the “Ride Don’t Hide” annual bide ride to raise awareness about mental health.

As the RCMP's Divisional Mental Health Champion for BC, Deputy Commissioner Craig Callens supports any and all efforts to eliminate the stigma around talking about mental health in the workplace. He is committed to ensuring no employee suffers in silence. Mental illnesses are just like any other illness—everyone deserves care, help, and support.

He is excited to be part of this year’s event and encourages all employees to participate in the “Ride Don’t Hide” campaign in their community.
