Let's do something for Karen

Nearly two years have passed since we lost Karen to this devastating disease, ALS. As a family, we were suddenly in the midst of planning a funeral and saying goodbye to my sweetie, their mom. Although Karen’s journey with the disease was fast, sudden and horrible, she faced it with such bravery and her faith reassured her that even though her time here would be short, her Lord and Savior was preparing her a place without sorrow and sickness.

As the months go by, we continue to return to the question “what are we going to do for Karen.” As a family, we want to create something positive out of such a terrible experience and raise awareness and funds to support those living with ALS in Alberta. We want to pay tribute to Karen. The support that we received from the ALS Society of Alberta was so greatly appreciated that we want to help other families dealing with ALS to have the same.

In light of this, we would like to invite you to our second annual Karen's Purple Shirt Party in support of the ALS Society of Alberta. We hope to have a little fun, raise some funds for ALS, and reminisce a little with friends and family as we spend the day together. We ask that you wear something purple, as it was Karen's favourite colour. It is our hope that we can continue to build Karen’s legacy and help create a future without ALS.
