TechAide Soccer Tournament 2020

We are proud to announce that our 2nd TechAide Soccer Tournament benefiting Centraide of Greater Montreal will be back on January 25th, 2020.

Once again, the Tech Community is getting people together for some festive indoor exercise. Soccer players of all skill levels are welcome to join this friendly competition. This year, we are aiming to recruit 24 teams instead of 17!

After the tournament, the winning teams will receive a tournament cup at a reception with food, beverage and sponsor information booths.

For a great cause

In addition to spending a great afternoon with some of the most dynamic players in Montreal’s tech, startup, and venture capital community, everyone who attends the event will be contributing to a great cause. All proceeds from the tournament will go to Centraide of Greater Montreal to support their fight against poverty and social exclusion.

Tournament details

Teams of five players will go head-to-head in an indoor soccer tournament. Teams can have up to 5 substitutions with unlimited player combinations. Matches are played on a small field and are short, with two intermissions of 5 minutes.

The 24 teams in the tournament will be divided into 6 groups for an initial round-robin of 3 matches. The 2 teams that lead each group after the round robin will then go on to the quarterfinals. The winners of the quarterfinals will go on to the semifinals.

The winners of the semi-finals will play in the final. The losers of the semi-finals will play in a match to determine the 3rd-place winner.

The teams that don’t make it into the playoffs can keep playing to try and win the competition for most goals scored.

Team Registration

Each team has until January 11th, 2020 to raise at least $1,000 to participate in the tournament. All profits will then be donated to Centraide of Greater Montreal. To reserve a spot, we ask for a $100 registration fee (deposit) that will be included towards the final $1,000.

For each registration fee ($1,000), a tax receipt will be issued. This receipt will be released to whom is making the donation. Registration No.: 11884 2517 RR0001.

We will also be accepting donations to support the event and your favorite team (please indicate the name of the team).

For this event, a tax receipt will be issued for every donation of $20 or more to Centraide. Registration No.: 11884 2517 RR0001.

About TechAide

In 2016, Alan MacIntosh and Alain Auclair, both involved in different charity boards, saw first hand the lack of connection between the tech and social worlds. Their wish? Seeing thriving tech entrepreneurs working side by side with community agency leaders to make sure every Montrealer gets their chance at a good life. Since then, TechAide has been working tirelessly to help Centraide break the cycle of poverty and social exclusion in Greater Montreal.

TechAide was established to bring the tech community together in creative and entertaining ways in order to raise awareness and money to support Centraide.

TechAide’s support of Centraide reflects the tech community’s deep confidence in the organization’s role in understanding each local territory’s needs and supporting a network of high-impact agencies and projects to take care of the essential challenges and build caring communities.
