Ride Don’t Hide is a community bike ride hosted, nationally, by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), with the goal to raise awareness and help break the stigma surrounding mental health while raising essential funds to support mental health programs in our community.

You don’t even know them, yet you changed their life… boosted them up and guided them in a bright direction at the key moment when they may have lost their way… lost all hope. ‘Sam’ is a youth from Richmond Hill who one day stepped onto the MOBYSS Youth Mobile Mental Health Clinic. Sam hadn’t had a proper medical check-up in years and reached out for help. Sam began to open up to the nurse practitioner, but not about his physical health, but about the struggles Sam was having with his mental health. Sam wrestled with the stigma that is associated with mental illness. He had anxiety. He felt he did not fit in and it seemed he had nowhere to turn. Sam was thinking of taking his own life.  After building trust with the Nurse Practitioner and then talking for hours, Sam felt listened to and developed a plan of self-care, one that met his needs and gave him a glimmer of hope. Sam began counselling sessions weekly and continues to make progress. So much so that he has been able to find a meaningful job through the CMHA employment program. Because of the wide range of services we provide, and as a result of people like you who care about the community and take the time and energy it requires to give back, Sam got the help he needed.

On behalf of this youth who now has a future to build on we say THANK YOU!

Each MOBYSS visit costs $250. We need your support to continue to provide mental health support to so many struggling youth. Did you know that 75% of all adults report the onset of their mental illness in adolescence? Each $250 raised could potentially make the difference in saving a youth's life like Sam.
