Mike Arsenault

A passionate sports, weather and media junkie, Mike Arsenault brings his enthusiasm to the Global News team as a weather specialist.

Arsenault’s love of sports catalyzed the beginning of his media career. After playing varsity baseball for five years at Queen’s University and Durham College, and obtaining an economics and history honours degree, he played semi-pro baseball in London. While in London, he began writing a weekly column for a local newspaper that provided an insider’s perspective on the season which later led to the publication of his first novel, 60’6”: Balls, Strikes, and Baseball Mortality. After his playing career ended, he joined the Metro News London as a freelance reporter and photographer.

From there, he was then named the editor and sports reporter of the K-W Review and Guelph Review, two local community newspapers in Southwestern Ontario. In addition to running two newspapers and two websites, he created, produced, and hosted a web series that showcased local community organizations and clubs. Arsenault made the jump to television in 2013 as an on-camera presenter and field reporter with The Weather Network. He also presented weather forecasts on CBC News Network, CBC Toronto, and CBC’s The National.
