Steve’s natural team building and leadership skills have resulted in a progressive career in the international energy sector. Steve thrives on networking, facilitation and collaboration – a few of the main reasons he ran for the Board of Directors of The Maritimes Energy Association. He grew up in PEI where he still has strong ties, and has spent the majority of his Oil & Gas career evenly split between Nova Scotia and Overseas (Middle East, Europe, Asia & Africa). Steve is a graduate of Dalhousie University, with a Masters in Marine Management, and is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) specializing in developing world class Quality, Health, Safety & Environment Management Systems (QHSEMS). Steve has an extensive background in Canadian and International consulting, business development, construction projects and offshore oil&gas exploration, development and operations. He has been a key advisor for R&D studies, coastal developments, stakeholder consultation, building and commissioning of offshore platforms, exploration drilling, subsea pipelines, and processing facilities. Steve is an ongoing member of the “post-Macondo” Subsea Well Response Project Advisory Forum (for which he presented as a special Nominee at the 2013 Suncor Presidents Operational Excellence Award Gala). Steve has a real passion for business development and promotion of the energy industry in Atlantic Canada. He has an extensive oil&gas network in Atlantic Canada, Alberta, Gulf of Mexico, North Sea and Middle East.
