My Message

Dear Friends In Hockey

The Corey C. Griffin NHL Alumni Pro-Am, in partnership with the Boston Bruins Foundation and the NHL Alumni Association, is a dream come true for any lifelong hockey fan. Participants will get the chance to play with and against some of the greatest players of our time to raise money for Boston Children’s Hospital, a world leader in the care and research of children’s health.

I had the privilige of coaching Corey Griffin on the South Shore Kings and on the Cape Cod Whalers.Corey loved the  game of hockey and he relished every game and tournament we played  especially when the aforementioned were road trips!

When we were on the road in Ottawa,Quebec,Toronto or Chicago or just hanging out in Marlboro between games Corey was at the center of his Band Of Brothers teammates never taking for granted the fun and camraderie that came with playing and competing at a high level with his lifelong friends. Corey embraced the concept of TEAM and was always thinking about his fellow players. For Corey a teammamte was family.Corey was a founding member of THE NHL Pro-Am and his desire to give back to the community was contageous and inspiring. For Corey, Dr. Meehan and Dr. Mannix were  family and Boston Children's Hospital was Corey's new team. The new quest for a championship for Corey was to find a safer way to prevent and treat consussions among athletes but especially among younger athletes. Corey was always about going ALL IN at 120% and this is how the NHL Pro -  Am went from a startup to one of the biggest fundraising events in Boston.

The tournament is now named after Corey. There is no doubt that Corey's enthusiasim for helping others was and continues to be the foundation of this tournament. Corey loved the Kings,The Whalers,Thayer Academy,Taft and Babson College and he was proud to be  a leader on those teams. Corey was and is the captain of his greatest team which are the researchers at Boston Children's Hospital who are making unbelievable Strides in concussion research. This may be one of the most important teams ever put together in Boston. To that end we ask that you think of your most positive team experiences and remember that when a team is really in allignment like Corey's research team at Children's... anything is possible!!

At a time when an increased number of children are participating in contact sports at a younger age, it is essential that the fundamental gaps in our knowledge regarding brain injury be filled. We hope you will join us as Boston Children’s Hospital leads the charge on a national scale.

We are excited about the past 4 years, and what the money raised has been able to accomplish.  We are looking forward to making the 5th annual Corey C. Griffin NHL Alumni Pro-Am the best one yet!

We want to thank you for your past support and we hope that you can continue to help Corey's Concussion Research team  do great things!!!

Thank you so much.If you have any questions please call me at 617-529-8838

All donations are greatly appreciated.
