This is a very special place; close to spectacular nature and wide open spaces. We really are so fortunate to be here.

But there’s another thing that makes our community special and that’s the fact that we have an excellent hospital just around the corner. You probably don’t want to think too much about hospitals, but when you or a loved one needs the best healthcare it sure makes a difference to have that care close to home at Collingwood General & Marine Hospital.

That’s why I’ve been volunteering at the Hospital for decades, and why I’m so passionate about raising money for it through the triathlon that I do every summer. In fact, I may have knocked at your door as I gathered my pledges and told you about this amazing place.

What you may not realize is that the government doesn’t fully fund our hospitals. In fact, they only provide funds for operating and building costs, not the equipment and technology that we’re so dependent on. And I don’t know about you, but I certainly want to be sure that my local hospital has the best equipment possible if I’m the one lying on that hospital bed.
