As I celebrate my birthday, I look ahead to the coming year with a personal goal already in mind: I will be joining the 2019 Ramah Israel Hiking Trip to raise money for the Ramah Tikvah programs.
My love of Israel goes back to my childhood, instilled in me by my parents and grandparents. I have the fondest memories of hiking through the land as a teenager participating in Ramah Seminar, so when the opportunity came along to join another Ramah trip, I decided to go for it.
I am excited that, through this journey, I will also be supporting an important cause. The Ramah Tikvah programs provide meaningful summer camp experiences for children, teens, and young adults with disabilities. Tikvah campers love participating in traditional camp activities, from swimming to art to celebrating Shabbat with the whole camp, and of course Yom Sport (color war). The program is integrated into the fabric of camp; it would be hard to imagine a Ramah summer without Tikvah.
