After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis back when I was a teenager, I wanted so badly to help others suffering from neurological disorders. So I did what I knew I could... find friends to help me organize a bike tour (and great party!). We did just that and raised nearly $50k in our first year. Fast forward 8 years, and the Branch Out Bike Tour now attracts over 500 participants, 1000's of donors and sponsors and has raised over 1.2 Million dollars!
What we (all Branch Out supporters, that's you!) can be MOST proud of is the impact the Branch Out Neurological Foundation has been able to make with these funds. Over 73 top Canadian Neuroscientists have been funded by Branch Out, making waves in our progress towards figuring out how:
-Music can change neuro pathways to help Parkinson's Patients walk without "Freezing"
-Magnetic Brain Stimulation can turn down the "ticks" in Tourettes or how it can increase activity in depressed areas of the brain in poeple with major depressive disorder
-The ketogenic diet could stop seizures in epilepsy or help in autism
-A Vitamin and new delivery method could help shrink the deadliest brain tumor (Glioblastoma) more effectively then conventional treatments!

On June 15th, thanks to my health and an incredible organizing committee, I get to participate in the Branch Out Bike Tour and ride 100km!
