I am excited to be taking part in the 3rd annual OCD Walk Toronto.
The funds raised are to support the Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre. The centre offers the only residential OCD treatment program available in Canada and offers a wide range of services, including individual and group therapy in addition to psychiatric consultation and care.
OCD is on the World Health Organization's top 10 list of most disabling conditions, both mental and physical, in terms of loss of quality of life and income. It can be tormenting and devastating, especially if left untreated.
Services for OCD can be hard to find. I personally spent 25 years in the mental health community before being diagnosed and another 9 years seeking treatment. I spent 12 weeks in the residential treatment program and another year in follow-up treatment. Treatment by the Thompson Centre has both saved and changed my life. I am forever grateful.
I want to help the Thompson Centre continue to do its work and to raise awareness of OCD. Please join me in supporting this important work.
Thanks so much!
