On Sunday, August 25th, I’ll be riding in the 17th annual Ride for Karen, a one day cycling adventure raising funds to send a kid with cancer to camp.

Your support of my efforts will raise funds for three extraordinary camp organizations; Camp Quality, Camp Trillium and Camp Ooch, which help children with cancer and their families build confidence, courage and friendships. With multiple locations staffed by health care professionals, volunteers and camp alumni, these camps provide tremendous emotional support coupled with various degrees of essential medical attention. The single greatest miracle these retreats provide is enabling children to escape the shadows of cancer treatment and feel the thrill of being just another kid.

Started in 2002, the RIDE FOR KAREN is a yearly cycling event that is held as a tribute to the life and legacy of Karen Tobias and to raise money for charities that help children living with cancer, and those who care for them. In the last fifteen years Ride for Karen has raised and donated over $2.64 million.  Funds from this extraordinary event were used to help build and furnish new cancer care facilities, provide much needed resources for cancer support centres and send kids with cancer to camp.

The Ride for Karen is a way for Karen’s family and friends to keep her dream alive, to continue her mission of - Building Hope – one cancer patient, and family, at a time.
