Our son Nicholas was born with Usher's Syndrome. A condition that causes deaf-blindness as well as balance issues. Nicholas was born profoundly deaf and was fortunate enough to get Cochlear Implants when he was 12 months old. He is now able to hear the world in his own way and never stops talking! His vestibular system is also affected by Usher's Syndrome and he suffers from balance issues severe enough that he didn't begin walking independently until 22 months and is still unable to independently walk up stairs, over curbs or on uneven surfaces such as sand at 3 1/2 years old. He will eventually lose his vision from an eye disorder called retinitis pigmentosa. First he will lose his night vision, followed by his peripheral vision beginning sometime before the age of 10.
We are raising money for The Foundation Fighting Blindness in hopes of preventing this from happening. We are committed to raising funds for a charity that is dedicated to finding the causes, treatments and cures of blinding eye diseases. We stand at the brink of new therapies that could save and even restore vision of those going blind from eye diseases. Your gift can help make this possible.
Our 3rd annual "A Night for Nick" is yet to be determined due to Covid-19 restrictions. In the meantime, please consider donating here.
Every penny counts and we thank you for your generosity and support!
