I am joining the Laps Around Lymphoma event for the 2nd year in a row to raise money to help others in their fight with cancer. As you all know, my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 Lymphoma last summer. It was a hell of a year for our family. So many ups and downs. But after a year of endless tests, drugs, chemotherapy and more I am so happy to say she is cancer free. It is most certainly a miracle. Without your support she would not have made it. Your donations last year helped to fund lifesaving research and support for those that needed it most. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Please support me in my efforts again this year to raise funds to support Canadians and their loved ones affected by lymphoma. Lymphoma is the 5th most common cancer in Canada; the most common cancer in teenagers and young adults ages 15-29; the 3rd most common cancer in kids. Each day, 31 Canadians are diagnosed with lymphoma. Lymphoma strikes randomly. There is no known cause.
For the next 2 weeks, I will again join other wellness enthusiasts at Lymphoma Canada’s virtual fundraising event, Laps Around Lymphoma. All participants are challenged to take 100,000 steps (76km) from September 15 to September 30. Prizes are available for the first three individuals who complete the virtual racetrack and for the top fundraisers.
I am aware that 100,000 steps will be quite a challenge but somehow I managed to do it last year with my 3 kids home and a very sick mother. So I have no excuses this year. But I want to show my support for the over 100,000 Canadians currently living with lymphoma. So I will not only complete the 100,000 steps but surpass it.
Your support, in the form of a donation, would be greatly appreciated. I plan to raise as many funds as possible. Please help me reach, and hopefully, exceed my fundraising goal!
Gratefully yours,
Christina Smith
