It's cold out there.
Similar to past years, I am participating in the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY), a national event raising awareness and funds to address homelessness. The Collingwood walk on February 22, 2025 supports Home Horizon (https://www.homehorizon.ca), a non-profit charity supporting youth experiencing homelessness. Home Horizon (HH) is a safe, transitional home for youth aged 16-24 facing homelessness in the Georgian Triangle community.
Ontario is at a tipping point in its homelessness crisis. More than 80,000 Ontarians were known to be homeless in 2024 with 25% being children or youth! This number (80,000) has grown by more than 25 per cent since 2022. Without significant intervention, homelessness in Ontario could double in the next decade, and reach nearly 300,000 people in an economic downturn.
