Why I Choose to MOVE and Fundraise:
The YMCA has been a huge advocate and supporter of moms like me in our community who are working on improving their physical and mental health through fitness programs!
So much has happened since last year's Move to Give fundraiser for Remi and me!
Not only have I continued to improve my physical fitness and endurance through classes and strength training, but I have also taken it a step further by training to become a Cardio & Strength Volunteer Group Fitness Instructor! This training includes various online modules (covering everything from how to be an approachable coach to the anatomy of muscles and bones in our body!), a three-day in-class course that I traveled to Midland for, and now the apprenticeship aspect, where I shadow and teach portions of classes. My personal favorite is the Cardio Step Class, where I lead the warm-up and two combo routines.
This year, there isn't a team bus pull, but I’m so excited to be helping host some fun, themed workout classes instead! It’s going to be a great way to get moving, connect with the community, and support an amazing cause.
I want to inspire those who feel isolated in new motherhood—just like I did—to find their place at the YMCA and continue to thrive with such an amazing community and support system.
Now, Remi, on the other hand—she’s grown so much! Running, climbing, and dancing regularly. We still swim together, and she’s getting the hang of jumping in on her own. She’s finding her voice through her favorite sounds, like cows and horses, and lots of words (like Hi!, Bye!, and Music, to name a few). She also loves to join me on hikes, camping trips, and visits to the park.
This cause means so much to us, and if you're able, I would love for you to consider donating to support the YMCA and the incredible programs that help families like mine. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference in strengthening our community and creating opportunities for others.
Thanks again for joining me in this exciting fundraiser to support my community.
