In Canada, aging too often strips people of status, respect, and even their own sense of worth. That’s wrong, and 10-year-old Maiya from North Dundas Township is doing something about it! 

On September 20, 2025, Maiya is walking 5 km —with her mom and dad—to honour and support the elders who shaped her community. She’s proving that caring for aging friends and family isn’t just a responsibility, it’s a privilege.

This isn’t a small gesture. It’s a spark. A public statement that respect for our elders must be loud, proud, and unstoppable.
