My Message

I'm excited to run the 2020 Chicago Marathon in support of my niece, Aina De Riba Sanchez, and the Angelman Syndrome Foundation.

Aina is an amazing child with an incredible personality and supportive family. During the early stages of her life, her parents noticed difficulties with eating and seizures and following many visits to various doctors and specialists they confirmed her diagnosis. The courage and love they approach each day with is inspiring.

AS affects 1 in 12,000-20,000 people and is a genetic disorder that affects the nervous system. Symptoms include intellectual and developmental challenges, difficulties speaking and sleeping, as well as seizures and challenges with balance and movement. While no cure is available, children with AS are incredibly happy, love water, and have a nearly normal life expectancy.
The mission of the Angelman Syndrome Foundation is to advance the awareness and treatment of Angelman Syndrome through education and information, research, and support for individuals with Angelman syndrome, their families and other concerned parties.
I'd be super thankful for any donation you can spare to help contribute towards research, treatment, and, one day, a cure for AS. Thanks for your support!

Best of luck mate! I did a full marathon once and I can't recommend strongly enough, that you wear trainers that support the arch of your foot and your "running gait"... otherwise your knees will really feel it! - It's the training that I found hardest, not the actual race! :-) Enjoy and a great cause mate!
