On Friday, October 20th over 900 YMCA Kids Club participants from child care programs across the Lower Mainland will participate in the 4th annual YMCA Walk for Strong Kids at Burnaby Lake. They’ll be raising funds so that all kids can have access to YMCA programs.
One in 5 children receive financial assistance to access YMCA programs thanks to the support of our generous donors.
Why do we have this event? Kids are walking for kids, so that all children have the opportunity to access our YMCA programs. Our little philanthropists are given an envelope and will be asking their friends and family for support. 100% of all funds raised for the YMCA’s Annual campaign go to supporting children and families in our YMCA community.
Donations help kids like Adam.
When Adam was 6 years old, he was abandoned by his mother, and with the father nowhere in sight his Grandmother became his caregiver. Wanting to do the best for her grandson, and with very limited financial resources she turned to the YMCA for support. Adam was able to get a fully subsidized membership to the YMCA so that he can participate in programs, learn new things, and most importantly, feel safe, accepted and cared for. Over the last three years, Adam has learned to swim, made new friends, and has truly become one strong kid! Now at 9 years old, Adam is reaching his potential, all thanks to the generous donors who made a donation to the YMCA’s Annual Campaign to build Strong Kids!.
Adam is one of the hundreds of children in our community that we have been able to help. All children deserve the opportunity to grow up healthy, have fun and just be kids. I hope you’ll join me in helping kids like Adam. Please show your support by making a donation today! Thank you.
