On April 9th, I will be one 18 Canadians (of a total of 1300 competitors, 14% of whom are women) competing in the 32nd annual Marathon des Sables -- a 250km stage race through the Sahara Desert. At 59 years old, I will also be the second-oldest woman competing in this year's race.
In the final 25k of the race, we run for a charity of our choice.
I’ve chosen to support the amazing work Plan does with children and their communities in developing countries around the world! Please join me by donating and helping me reach my fundraising goal.
Plan is a global movement for change, mobilizing millions of people around the world to support social justice for children in developing countries.
Plan works in 70 countries around the globe, including 51 developing countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas. We give children, families and communities the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty and begin the cycle of progress by creating sustainable solutions for improving their own lives.
Plan is also the organization behind Because I am a Girl.
Because I am a Girl is Plan’s global initiative to end gender inequality, promote girls’ rights and lift millions of girls – and everyone around them – out of poverty.
In Canada, the Because I am a Girl movement is about harnessing the incredible power that girls and women have here at home, to change the future.
By investing in girls, we can support a generation of empowered women, mothers, workers and leaders who will improve the lives of everyone around them.
Thank you so much for your support!
