Hey Y'all! Over the past several years, I have had the pleasure of getting to meet some of the GREATEST kids and people through my runs and the groups I have joined from doing these runs. However, one little, beautiful face in particular sticks out to me. I will refrain from mentioning names as I have not asked for permission from the family and do not want to be rude. But, this little girl lit up my world and my daughter Camilla's world with her friendliness and exuberance. Though she had Down Syndrome, she was no different to Camilla and me than any other person in the world. In fact, she was better, she taught us that it was the small things in life that meant the most.... saying hello to a stranger would most often render a smile! That making new friends can teach you how to compromise! And above all that moms really are superheroes! Some more than others! And yet, somehow, they manage to continue wearing a smile through it all!
So, though this little one has not yet been to the Special Olympics, my heart tells me that one day, she will be the shining star of them! Or so I hope and pray that she is! And therefore, I would like to ask ALL of you to donate as little or as much as you can to this GREAT cause!!! PLEASE!!! Actually, I won't even ask, I will beg!
Sad part about it is, by BEGGING you to donate, I am only guaranteeing that I will be jumping into a frigid pool of water in support of this cause!!!
So please, take a moment to consider donating at least a small (or large portion) of your "extra" cash to this AWESOME cause!!
PS.... I promise I will have a great costume!
