Project North is an innovative youth leadership project involving 12 youth from across Sarnia-Lambton. The project has been designed to build upon the mission based priorities of the YMCA. This project involves participants in a wide variety of leadership development experiences with a special focus on community service and philanthropy. Participants are gaining insight into their personal leadership potential and abilities, group dynamics, communication, volunteerism and philanthropy as well as developing a new perspective and sense of responsibility.
Costs of the project will be offset by participant fundraising, community service and event-based fundraising, as well as small business and corporate sponsorships. Our hope is to give all youth this opportunity, without financial barriers inhibiting their participation. The YMCA asks for your support as a donor to make this project a success; to ensure that this dynamic team of young people are given a solid foundation to become tomorrow’s leaders.
All of the proceeds go directly to YMCA Project North. Donations will cover costs for leadership programming, emotional intelligence, experiences at the YMCA Leadership Challenge Centre, travel to and within Alberta, as well as community initiatives and adventure tourism while in Alberta.
Supporting this project enables the YMCA to continue to build strong leaders. When the team returns from Alberta, they will have completed six months learning leadership styles, getting involved in the community and the importance of volunteerism. They will have travelled to a different part of the country, learned a new sense of community and home life, gained new appreciation for what we have locally and what is means to be Canadian. This combination will open the door for twelve students to become more involved within Sarnia-Lambton, encouraging one another and their peers to make our home a better place. Please support YMCA Project North and help the YMCA build future leaders of Sarnia-Lambton.
