Once again I am volunteering for the Ramah Israel Bike Ride and Hiking Trip, which raises money for Ramah programs for children, teens, and young adults with disabilities.
Participating in this event is very special for me since proceeds go to support the special needs programs at Camp Ramah in the Poconos, where I have worked as the Program Coordinator since 2002. In addition, I have had the pleasure of serving as the Assistant Director of our Tikvah Family Camp for the past 7 summers.
Tikvah Family Camp provides Jewish children with developmental disorders and/or social learning disorders, their parents, and their siblings the unique opportunity to experience the magic of Jewish summer camp. Our 5-day overnight program incorporates Jewish learning, recreation, spiritual reflection, and plain-old-fun in the beautiful natural environment of Camp Ramah in the Poconos.
In addition, my nephew Robert has been a camper in our residential "Yedidim" program in the Poconos. This amazing program is fully integrated into our overnight camp and offers Robert and his friends various opportunities to learn and grow through classic camp activities, such as swimming and boating, athletics, performing and visual arts, and outdoor adventure.
