I am extremely grateful to Camp Ramah and so this year, I am participating in the 2019 Ramah Israel Bike Ride and Hiking Trip to raise money for Ramah programs for children, teens, and young adults with disabilities. We will spend six days biking throughout the Negev, ending in Eilat. It will be challenging but I am very excited about the opportunity to experience this trip and raise funds for Camp Ramah’s Tikvah programs.
Camp Ramah has been one of the major influences in my life, Ada Beth’s life, and the lives of our children. The programs at camp provide a deep and experiential understanding of Hebrew, Jewish religion and culture, and Jewish values. Conversing in Hebrew on the basketball court and application of Jewish values in our camp community was a powerful complement to classroom learning. These experiences contributed to the core of who I am today. Of equal importance is the fact that Ramah led me to my b’shert, my partner, Ada Beth and led our son David to his b’shert, Rachel.
Camp Ramah was a pioneer in the development of programs for people with special needs. The Tikvah program offers a unique opportunity to experience Camp Ramah and build skills that help people build on their strengths, learn new skills and become independent and contributing members of the community.
