I am honored to be participating in the Police Unity Tour of Northern California.

The Police Unity Tour’s motto is: “We Ride for Those Who Died” and we raise awareness about America’s fallen officers.

Ten years ago I began participating in the PUT, as I rode for 5 Fallen Heroes.  Every year since then I continue to ride for these Heroes:

Sadly, every year since then I would honor another Fallen Hero lost in The Line Of Duty the year prior.

On January 10, 2019 we lost another hero taken too soon, Officer Natalie Corona, with the Davis Police Department.  I immediately knew I needed to ride in her honor.  Then June 19th came, and with it came a call I will never forget… Sacramento Police Officer Tara O’Sullivan.

I could go into everything Tara, and what she meant to me, but many of you are aware of our relationship.  Tara’s loss was not just devastating to the profession and the community, but for me it’s just about as close as it gets to losing your own child.

I would like to say in such a short career she impacted so many.  The reality is that she was impactful before entering law enforcement.  She left memorable marks in every arena and every area of her life.  If Tara was a part of it you knew her, and you will never forget her.  Tara’s life was bigger than her story.  Her smile was brighter than a sunny day.  Her work ethic was that of a premier professional athlete.  Her sense of humor was funnier than a 2-hour comedy.  Her sarcasm… well I’ll just say it was sarcastic, and her fight was Never Quit!

In 2020 I will ride for Officer Natalie Corona with great honor.  Sadly, starting this year, I will honor Officer Tara O’Sullivan every year with great honor.  I will honor them all with every crank of the pedal for 300 miles from NJ to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in DC.

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial honors America’s fallen law enforcement heroes who have died in the line of duty. Their mission is to tell the story of America’s law enforcement officers and make it safer for those who serve.
