My Message

A fundraiser to ensure the kids have someone to listen and help find answers.

Is this real? When will this end? Will my partner still love me if I can't see them in person? Where can I stay that's safe? Will my parents get divorced?

“Between the impact of COVID-19 and the prospect of growing up in a world where systemic racism is an undeniable reality, the kids have more questions, anxieties, pressures, and problems these days,” says Dean Rud, bass player of The Fizzgigs. “For many, home is not a safe place, the outside world doesn’t feel like a safe place, and isolation from their social groups has amplified the normal challenges of growing up.”

In this spirit of supporting our communities through uncertain times, a group of very special musical collaborators from all across Canada have records, while not on tour this spring, a cover of the 1980 Wipers song "Is This Real?" The collaboration includes:

- Dave Baksh from Sum 41
- Danko Jones
- KJ Jansen from Chixdiggit
- Chris Creswell from The Flatliners
- Chuck Coles from The Creepshow, United Snakes and Rules
- Emily Bones from The Anti-Queens
- Seth Anderson
- Darren Ollinger from Julius Sumner Miller
- Hugo Mudie from The Sainte Catherines, Yesterday’s Ring, Medictation and Mudie
- Jeff, Jamie, and Limo  from Modern Terror
- Matt Collyer of The Planet Smashers and Stomp Records
- Jeff Barrett and Blair Cooney from One Shot Left
- And your hosts, The Fizzgigs

Together, we are raising funds because we want to spark the kids' courage to ask for help and ensure they get the help they need through Kids Help Phone.

Kids Help Phone is always open for young people — no matter where they are or what time it is. As a charity, they have been a trusted source of support for over 29 years. By supporting this campaign, you'll keep this vital service available for all youth across Canada. Please help our fundraising efforts!
