While their peers mark the season with family traditions and celebration, vulnerable young people experience heightened feelings of sadness and isolation. The COVID-19 pandemic has compounded the already profound challenges faced by vulnerable populations, such as food, housing and income insecurities as well as mental health challenges, making this year’s holiday season especially difficult.
