"Chef"
What accomplishments make you most proud of yourself?
"I compete in Special Olympics skiing every year in Weston Missouri, and this year, I completed with my team in Colorado on the mountain slopes! When I’m not competing, I work at Walmart where I have been employed for 10 years! I just moved into a new apartment where I live with my committed partner of 5 years."
How has Special Olympics changed your life?
"Special Olympics has given me friendships, teammates, and something to look forward to every year. I feel a sense of pride for myself as well as my teammates as we cheer for each other. Another way Special Olympics has changed my life is by giving me confidence; not just in competitions, but in all aspects of my life."
What challenges have you had to overcome, and how did Special Olympics help you?
"What challenges have you had to overcome and how did Special Olympics help you? Finding friends and activities that bring purpose and passion to my life has always been difficult for me after graduating high school. Finding teammates, finding a community of athletes in Special Olympics has been a constant brightness in my life."
What does attending USA Games mean to you?
"The opportunity to compete at this level is a dream come true. I love to have my family and friends cheering me on. I feel proud to represent Kansas."
What is something interesting about you that most people don’t know?
"I have a unique memory. I may not remember what I had for breakfast, but I can recall seemingly small details from when I was really little."
Special Honors:
"I just received my 10 years of loyalty award at Walmart where I have been a cart pusher and stocker. I recently received a special award for keeping employees and customers by ensuring COVID safety measures."
