As most of you know I am on the Board of Directors of a tremendous charity, Home Horizon, that helps vulnerable youth in our area to get out of the cold. Last year many of you supported me on my 5 km walk raising money for our largest fundraiser - Coldest Night of the Year. I am once again asking you for your support to ensure we can continue to operate and deliver our crucial programs to some of the most vulnerable youth in our community.
We have a transitional house, Barbara Weider House, where 10 vulnerable youth reside and receive help to get from helpless to hopeful and find a path to success. We have an outreach program that touched over 60 youth in 2021 that are living rough and in the 6 tent cities in our community.
We work with youth facing complex and challenging barriers including poverty, mental health and addictions, sex trafficking, racism, trauma and conflictual home lives. Our programs are aimed at providing things like meals, hygiene products, life skills, mental health support and much more to vulnerable youth in our community.
Home Horizon’s social return on investment is multifaceted; not only are we ensuring the health and wellbeing of youth today, we are also making a significant investment in our community’s future.
At any given time we have 20 youth, from the local community, on our waiting list and many more out there in need of our services. With your help we can reach more youth in need.
