Brody a été choisipour être l’un des patients ambassadeurs qui représenteront le réseau des hôpitaux Shriners au tournoi.Brody agira comme porte-étendard tout au long du week-end et transportera les pointages des golfeurs professionnels. Pour lui, c’est une rare opportunité de voir l’envers du décor d’un événement du PGA TOUR et une excellente occasion d’expliquer comment les Hôpitaux Shriners pour enfants ont contribué à changer sa vie.
À propos de Brody
Brody, un jeune de 17 ans très actif, vit à Riverview, Nouveau-Brunswick, Canada avec ses parents, Carmen et Linsey, et sa sœur de 16 ans, Payton. Né avec une Lipomyéloméningocèle, les nerfs à la base de sa colonne vertébrale ne se sont pas développés correctement, ce qui a entraîné un sous-développement de sa jambe gauche et plusieurs autres problèmes médicaux.
Brody a commencé à recevoir des soins aux Hôpitaux Shriners pour enfants - Canada à l'âge de deux ans et a subi de nombreuses interventions chirurgicales au fil des ans. Compte tenu de la distance qu'elle franchit pour recevoir des soins, la famille de Brody apprécie de voir plusieurs spécialistes le même jour, lors des visites de contrôle annuel. En novembre dernier, Brody a subi une intervention chirurgicale pour entamer le processus d'allongement de sa jambe. Pendant trois mois après la chirurgie, il a déployé quotidiennement l'appareil dans sa jambe et a pu étirer sa jambe de 2,5 pouces ! Il devra toujours porter une attelle, en raison des lésions nerveuses avec lesquelles il est né, mais Brody est ravi de ne plus avoir besoin d'une semelle de compensation dans sa chaussure afin que ses jambes aient la même longueur.
Bien qu'il ait fait face à de nombreux défis, Brody ne laisse certainement pas sa mobilité limitée des jambes l'arrêter! Il aime faire de la planche à neige, de la natation, du golf, du volley-ball et du vélo. Il aime aussi jouer à des jeux vidéo et discuter avec ses amis en ligne. L'une de ses émissions préférées est One Piece et ses films préférés sont Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse et Fantastic Mr. Fox. Il aime les soirées pizza avec sa famille et sortir manger des sushis pour se régaler. Brody et sa famille adorent voyager et faire du plein air.
Brody est ravi de représenter les Hôpitaux Shriners pour enfants - Canada en tant que porte-drapeau à l'Omnium Shriners pour enfants!

Help us give Brody the experience of a lifetime at the 2022 Shriners Children's Open!
Brody, 17 years old, a patient at Shriners Hospitals for Children - Canada, from Riverview, New Brunswick, will have the experience of a lifetime in October when he represents his hospital at the Shriners Children's Open (www.shrinershospitalsopen.com), an official PGA TOUR event in Las Vegas.
Brody was chosen as one of the patient ambassadors to represent the hospital network at the tournament, where he will serve as a standard bearer throughout the weekend, carrying the scores of professional golfers as they compete in the tournament. It is a rare “inside look” opportunity at a PGA TOUR event, as well as the chance to share how Shriners Hospitals have helped transform his life.
About Brody
Brody, an active 17 year old, lives at home in Riverview, New Brunswick, Canada with his parents, Carmen and Linsey, and his 16-year-old sister, Payton. Born with lipomyelomeningocele, the nerves at the base of his spine did not develop properly, which caused his left leg to remain underdeveloped, along with other medical challenges.
Brody began receiving care at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Canada when he was two years old and has had numerous surgeries throughout the years. Given the distance they travel to receive care, Brody’s family has appreciated being able to see multiple specialists on the same day, when he visits for his annual check-ups. Last November he had surgery to begin the process of lengthening his leg. For three months after surgery, he expanded the device in his leg daily and was able to stretch his leg 2.5 inches! He will still have to wear a brace, due to nerve damage that he was born with, but Brody is thrilled to no longer need a lift in his shoe for his legs to be the same length.
Although he has faced many challenges, Brody certainly doesn’t let his limited leg mobility stop him one bit! He enjoys snowboarding, swimming, golf, volleyball and biking. He also enjoys playing video games and chatting with his friends online. One of his favorite shows to watch is One Piece and his favorite movies are Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Fantastic Mr. Fox. He enjoys pizza night with his family and going out for sushi as a treat. Brody and his family love traveling and exploring the outdoors.
