It is the CNOY time of year, and I am thrilled and so priveleged to be a part of it again! It is a great cause for a great place. I am a part of an amazing team again this year, Skyline_Brantford, and I am lucky to be walking with friends, family, coworkers and tenants. We will be walking, fundraising and donating to help make an impact in our community. Knowing the local charity that our donations will go towards is once again WHY NOT CITY MISSIONS, makes every dollar raised and every step taken that much sweeter. And here is my favourite part, the cherry on the top of an already great fundraiser and charity... Skyline Living is matching our donations dollar for dollar, with a goal of $50,000 matched all across Canada.

WHY NOT CITY MISSIONS is a youth focused organization that truly impacts the life of the teens, tweens and young adults in our community. The staff and organization don’t ever see a youth in crisis and say, “Why would we help, they are too far gone”. No, they look at every situation with an attitude of “Why Not do everything in our power to effect a change in this young person’s life”. I learned about WHY NOT CITY MISSIONS when I was in early adulthood, and my parents helped organize and run a small WHY NOT Drop-In Centre one night a week in St. George, ON for multiple years. I have personally met and spoken with many different youth and young adults whose lives have been impacted by WHY NOT CITY MISSIONS. From hearing how the drop-in centre was just a safe place to hang out off the streets where you could have someone just sit and talk with you, judgement free, to being told about the centre offering an aspiring musician free guitar equipment so they could have the ability to pursue a dream that they though was unattainable due to lifestyle constraints. They now have opened a pregnant mother’s home, a safe place for young women who have been forced out of their own home due to the pregnancy. There they can find guidance and education about how to find a safe and affordable home, how to parent a newborn and basic life skills that many of these young women may not have had a chance to learn before they discovered they were carrying a child. WHY NOT CITY MISSIONS also operates a shelter for male teens and young adults, to help them when they are in crisis of homelessness due to their home situation. They have the Drop-In Centre, that is open every night and offers meals, supports and socialization for the youth in our community who have not been as blessed as we may have been. I stand fully behind this organization and the impact it has on the Brantford Community as a whole. Thank you WHY NOT CITY MISSIONS. Your organization shows how one person, Charlie, truly can make a difference, and how the ripple effect of his impact and ideas have helped a whole new generation of youth in the Brant County.
