It's cold out there. And on February 24, I'm going to do something about it. Together with other people across America, I'll be walking and fundraising to support people and families experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness in my community. Funds will be supporting the Rolla Mission, operated out of Crossroads Church (www.therollamission.org).
Not only is the Mission the only shelter for unhouse folks in Rolla, it's the only shelter in Phelps County, and demand for services is high and growing due to soaring housing costs, as well as the prevalence of addiction issues and lack of support and healthcare for treating folks who need this help. Enter the Mission: in 2022, they helped 116 people move into housing, connected 212 people with case management services, provided over 43,000 meals, and sheltered an average of 40 people per night every night of the year. They provide services including College and Career Readiness, Project HEAL (addiction recovery support group), trauma and substance abuse counseling, art class, and much more.
I'm so incredibly proud to be a part of this community of kind, empathetic, and hardworking people in Rolla - I'm referring to my fellow volunteers as well as the folks seeking help at the Mission. Please help me exceed my fundraising goal of $500 in the next month!
