In Canada, growing older can often rob people of status, a sense of being valued, and even self-respect. Varying degrees of disease and illness affect both young and old resulting in a higher level of care required for a loved one, whom can no longer remain at home safely. This has been our family's experience this past year. Luckily we have found a home, away from home for my father. We have been well supported in our transition. The staff at Salem treat my father like family, with compassion, dignity and respect. The activities and level of engagement available to the residents are wonderful. We are always greeted with a smile & an update. We are so thankful for this new community that our family has joined. This walk is to raise funds for an upgraded call bell system to further aide in the provision of care for residents within the facility and provide a voice & reassurance that help is coming.
