It's cold out there. And this February, I'm going to do something about it.
I'll be walking to support people and families experiencing hurt, hunger and homelessness in my community.
Last year, the funds raised from this walk allowed the John Howard Society of Fredericton to:
• support youth in crisis with housing and supports,
• provide inclement weather response during times of extreme heat or cold to people experiencing homelessness and living rough,
• provide food and beverages to people experiencing homelessness who are clients of our Ironwood Resource Centre,
• deliver family programs to help kids do better in school,
• provide a lunch program to kids in need,
• provide breakfast to our shelter clients,
• run our peer support group that is free to anyone in the community who needs support in the topic areas of mental health, addictions, homelessness, grief and loss,
• cover some of the construction costs of our new family housing units for families experiencing homelessness due to domestic violence, and much more.
