It's cold out there. And there's a lot of people in our community who either cannot afford to buy their groceries or there's also many who are undernourished. This February, I'm going to do something about it. I'll be walking and fundraising to support people and families experiencing food insecurity in my community.
I do this all because I believe everyone should be able to enjoy fresh and abundant food in our incredible region. I believe that good food shouldn't be a luxery. I want people to be able to grow their own food and not only experience that satisfaction (that I have personally discovered) but also be able to create REAL nourishment for themselves and their family. They should also have the ability to store food and have enough in their homes for times when it's Winter OR if there's an emergency.
I do this all for my kids! I want them to live in a healthy and vibrant community. I want my kids to know how to give their time and skills for the benefit of others. And I certainly want them well-nourished so they can live healthy and vibrant lives. Kids are so capable and these skills are so valuable. Seeing kids in the garden and the kitchen fills my cup!
And I do this all for my dad. He believed in service to others. I wish he could be here to be doing this with me, in the garden, cooking alongside us, finding joy in this lovely place we call the Shuswap.
Please join us in supporting Shuswap Food Action to do our work to build a Food Secure Shuswap where EVERYONE has access to affordable, abundant and nourishing food.
