Warriors! Again, we brave the cold to win a brighter future!
The winter winds blow, and the cold sets in. Each day the damp turns to freezing, and the most vulnerable members of our community do battle with the elements.
Here in Sudbury, winter temperatures can plummet into the -40s, and over 500 people are experiencing homelessness. Our goal in supporting the Samaritan Centre is to help provide food, shelter, and access to critical services to our neighbours who have nowhere else to turn. As little of $5 can provide a hot meal.
Star Trek's episode Past Tense looks at the conditions faced by the unhoused population in 2024. Some living with mental health and addiction issues. Others simply unable to keep up with the cost of living, or out of work. But the episode shone an uncomfortable light of society's tendency to prefer to simply put these folks out of sight, and forget to care. Star Trek challenges us to be the force for change that brings about the future we dream is possible.
In the spirit of Trektivism, join Team Klingon as we march to that brighter tomorrow.
Your donation of $5, $10, $50, or $100 could be the difference that saves a life this winter.
