My Message

It's cold out there. And this February, I'm going to be walking with the amazing team from Durham Youth Services! Together with thousands of Canadians across the country, we'll be walking and fundraising to support people and families experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness in our community. At Durham Youth Services everyday we are supporting youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness across Durham Region.  Please, give generously and help us continue and expand the amazing programs we offer by clicking the "Donate Now" button above. Next week this time we will be finished the walk and all warmed up. Because of your efforts some students will have the opportunity to be in a warm safe home as well. Thank you for your efforts and know that the fundraising portal will be open until March 31st. Looking forward to next Saturday.

Happy Thursday, I feel like today could be used to get ready for the walk on Feb 22nd. Just so you know there is a bit of a process if the weather is bad. More than likely the walk will still happen. If it seems that it may be uncomfortable than we may tweak the walk. If it is deemed unsafe we may need to called it off (this is very unlikely with the 1000 of walks that have happened this has only happened a few times). If there is any switching of the planned walk I will inform you by this email

It is about two weeks until the coldest night. There are great resources on the Coldest Night page as well. If you are collecting money in person then please use the pledge form at https://cnoy.org/tools/pledge. Is someone is donating by Cheque please have them make the Cheque out to Blue Sea or Coldest Night to make sure they their tax receipt

Hi, I made a mistake. The Kindness is free team did not walk last night though we did do an info session. They will be walking on the same day as the rest of us just in the morning and in Toronto. I wanted to offer a bit of an update. It is 40 days away from our walk for most of us though we have an enthusiastic group called Kindness is free that will be doing theirs this Thursday. What a great night that will be. It is a team lead by Mrs Jackson (Shannon’s mom). For the rest of us we are set to go. There is still time to fundraise and if you know anyone that would like to sign up they can join. Gillian will be working with a team to try to get more students, Alba is working on sponsors

Good morning and happy Monday. Hope you are dry and warm. I have to say that is not an option for all the young folks we meet in schools. Thank you to you and the board for all the hard work you do to support the team at DYS and then going above to support his fundraiser. We are doing great more than $1300 raised and 14 registered walkers on 5 teams. Hope to see you soon
