It was February 1996 when I became homeless and my siblings were taken into foster care. I was "too old" for foster care the case worker said. I was crushed ... Fast forward to 2025.
FACT: Between 30,000 and 35,000 people are homeless on any given night in Canada with the majority of them in Ontario.
FACT: There is a 3-4 year waiting list to get subsidized housingin Simcoe/Muskoka.
Imagine having to struggle every night for shelter in these climates. Remember, not all circumstances of homelessness can be avoided.
This cause is very personal to me and I'm happy to say that I'm in a place in my life to give back in a BIG way. Hurt, hunger and homelessness is at an all time high in our communities and it's been out of our control. BUT - Together with thousands of other kind Canadians across the country, I'll be volunteering and fundraising to support folks and families experiencing this first hand in our community.
