It's chilly outside, and on February 22nd, I’ll join thousands of Canadians in walking and fundraising to support individuals and families facing homelessness, hardship, and hunger. This year, I’m participating in the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) event in Kitimat, where the funds raised will benefit Tamitik Status of Women, an organization doing incredible work for those in need in our community.
This marks my first year taking part in CNOY, and I’m excited to set a personal fundraising goal of $3,500 for Tamitik Status of Women. This cause is vital for many in our community, and I believe that taking risks can lead to meaningful change. Through my volunteering experiences, I’ve heard the stories of those struggling, which have profoundly affected me. Events like this highlight the thin line between having enough and not, making me appreciate the simple comforts of life, like warm showers and a place to sleep. No one in Canada should have to fight for these basic necessities, and I believe we can tackle these issues at the community level.
I’ve seen how Tamitik Status of Women transforms lives. Their services open doors to better opportunities, and your support can truly make a difference. TSW offers a range of free resources, including food, clothing, life skills training, and mentorship, aiming to connect individuals with the right support to help them thrive. They strive to empower people to actively pursue their dreams, fostering resilience and self-help within the community. I understand there are many deserving causes out there, and your generosity can create a significant impact.
