Water Warriors YEG was founded in the summer of 2020 to address the lack of water access for Edmonton's unhoused community.
What began with a borrowed wagon and generous contributions from friends and family has grown into an initiative that now supports approximately 500 of our unhoused neighbours each week.
We provide more than just water. Our team distributes snacks, clothing, harm reduction supplies, hygiene items, and most importantly, hope. As a mobile outreach group, we meet people where they are, ensuring we reach those facing mobility challenges and addiction issues. We never just "drop and go"—we build relationships, listen, and offer support however we can, including advocacy and connection to resources when needed.
Water Warriors YEG is proudly inclusive. Many of our volunteers have lived experience and are passionate about giving back to the community. We are a secular group, operating free from religious affiliation. Our team is trauma-informed, trained in de-escalation, and committed to truth and reconciliation principles.
We are a 100% volunteer-run organization, dedicated to making a meaningful impact, one connection at a time.
Bissel Centre has given us the support of being able to use their staff parking lot to stage our U-Haul full of clothing and our wagons. We do this walk each year to help raise funds for their programs that support people experiencing poverty. We do this walk to give our thanks to Bissel.
