It's cold out there - and for members of our community facing housing or food insecurity, that's making life even harder. Services that work with these communities are struggling to keep up with the growing needs.
That's why I'll be walking with the Sistering team on February 22nd for Coldest Night of the Year - a community fundraising walk that supports local charities working with individuals facing housing and food insecurity, issues facing more and more people in this city and across the country.
These are issues at the heart of what Sistering does - but they can't do it alone. Sistering works with at-risk women and gender diverse people who are homeless or precariously housed, providing a low-barrier drop-in (the only 24/7 drop-in centre in Toronto for women and gender-diverse individuals), food access programs, community referrals, harm reduction, a medical clinic and more. While they receive some government funding, Sistering relies heavily on donations from the public to keep the doors open and continue reaching those who need it.
So, I hope you'll consider supporting the critical work that Sistering does by sponsoring me for this event. Any amount will make a difference.
Thank you!
