There is a deep systemic rot of food insecurity in our city. In 2024, all of Toronto's food banks served 3.75 million clients - 1 in 10 Torontonians relying on food banks. On January 27, city council declared food insecurity an emergency in Toronto.

I spend time every week volunteering at Fort York Food Bank, serving food and providing groceries to my neighbours, and so far in 2025, FYFB has seen record-high numbers of 6000 clients every single week.
