Thirty years ago, my friend Phyllis Ortiz responded to the needs in her west Toronto neighbourhood by opening the Oasis Dufferin Community Centre in the Baptist church where her husband was pastor. It remains a small but well-used place where its neighbours can experience God's care and provision through a weekly foodbank, professional counselling, lively social activities for seniors, and the compassion of staff and volunteers.

As a relatively new member of the Oasis board, I encourage you to support this modest yet vital and vibrant ministry.
