It's cold out there. And this February, I'm once again going to do something about it. Together with other people across the country, I'll be walking and fundraising to support people and families experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness in my community.
I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the resources ARE available for every human being to have a home to live in, food to eat and meaningful work so as to contribute to others. But right now, the FLOW of and access to those resources is being blocked - both collectively and individually.
Which is why I am, once again,
But part of it will be by getting personally involved and helping to make a difference. On February 22nd, I will again be joining with people across America for what is called the “Coldest Night of the Year”. Bottom line, I'll be walking and fundraising to support people and families experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness in my local community. Specifically, the funds I raise will support the ONLY homeless shelter in Sauk County, Wisconsin.
This shelter, called Pathway Home of South Central, Wisconsin is the culmination of a dream that a friend of mine, Angela Witczak, had for years. Her dream was to not only open the shelter, but to make this shelter different than many shelters. Besides providing much-needed shelter, its mission is focused on the recovery of the whole person so that they can transform their lives. The education and resources offered are not just designed to rapidly find housing for clients – but to empower them to take control of their lives and create a better life for themselves and their children.
I've initially set a goal of raising $500 - although I hope to be able to match or surpass the $1000 I raised last year. If you are willing and able to contribute to this cause in some way – large or small, know that I appreciate it. More importantly, know that you will be making a difference in the lives of people near where I live.
Thank you!.
