On Feb 22, I am going to walk in memory of my dad who passed away of hypothermia in downtown London one year ago. Although we became estranged when I was 13, I’ll always remember his passion for being a bee keeper, how much he loved motorcycles and the happiness fishing brought him, his love for sushi that he first ever introduced me to, and his kind heart. It took me a long time to understand my dad was battling addictions , and was unable to live a “normal life”. It’s hard for me to describe how it feels to know he was outside in the cold struggling so bad in so many ways in life. It’s something I don’t know if I will ever be able to fully understand or accept, but in the end he will always be my dad, and i will always be daddys girl , and that little girl inside of me will always remember how much he meant to me. I hope to bring awareness to the homeless crisis in London with this walk, and help the community remember- we are all human with basic needs and we are all someones loved one.
