It's cold out there. And this February, I'm going to do something about it. Home Horizon will be hosting its 9th annual Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY), a national event that raises funds for youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in our community.
For those of us who enjoy the winter months in Canada, we want the snow and cold temperatures. However, this is not the case for people who are experiencing homelessness and face either frostbite or the dangers of keeping warm. The youth experiencing homelessness in our region just want to feel safe and know they have a future.
The staff at Home Horizon work tirelessly to provide transitional housing as well as outreach services to youth who face complex issues such as mental health, poverty, violence and sex trafficking.
Together with thousands of Canadians across the country, I'll be walking/hiking the Osler Loop (7 km) and fundraising to support people and families experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness in my community.
Anything and everything helps!!
