Hello, friends. Billionaire oligarchs be damned, I am reactivating my FB page to spite the Zucks and Bezos and Musks and Viveks who refuse to use their platforms to fundraise for the power of all that is good.
It's time for the annual Coldest Night of the Year walk for the Association Advocating for Women and Community (AWAC) here in Prince George.
Since opening its doors in 1994, AWAC has dedicated 28 years to serving as a community-driven response, offering safe and supportive housing for vulnerable, street-entrenched women and girls. Known affectionately as “the shelter of last resort,” AWAC has expanded its services to include emergency shelter, a supported recovery program, supported housing, and a modified college program, all aimed at empowering individuals towards a path of stability and self-sufficiency. Through comprehensive support and relentless advocacy, AWAC remains committed to uplifting those it serves, making a lasting difference in the community.
I see you on my social media, enjoying your tropical holidays and drinking like your liver will last forever (it won't, btw). Yes, I know who you are. Will you spare a few pesos to support me and my team walk on the night of February 22nd, in the cold streets of downtown Prince George, fundraising to support a great charitable organization, doing their best to help people survive and get back on their feet again in society?
Even if you didn't go on a tropical holiday or plan to do one, perhaps you have a few bucks to spare to support the team? Or maybe you want to join the Tarts & Vicars as we walk! No, you don't need to dress up (although it could be fun!).
It's cold out there. February 22nd, I'm going to do something about it. Together with thousands of Canadians across the country, I'll be walking and fundraising to support people and families experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness in my community. Please, give generously by clicking the "Donate Now" button above. Thanks!
