Our current cold snap is a stark reminder of the perilous conditions a homeless person can face in Canada. 

Sometimes, perhaps due to mental illness, the normal homeless shelter is not accessible. Sleeping outdoors,  using newspapers for extra warmth, is the only option. The new shelter Castlegar is building can't come soon enough, and skilled staffing is a constant need.

In response, Alicia and I will again join our Castlegar United Church CNOY walking team on Feb 22nd to raise money for, and awareness of, the marginalized and disenfranchised homeless population in Castlegar which, sadly, continues to grow. 😢
