It was cold out there.
But on Saturday 22 February, Jamie and I braved the chill (and unshovelled sidewalks - c'mon, Torontonians!?!) to walk 5K alongside our neighbours to raise money in the Coldest Night of the Year event.
Our team of two walked for Sistering. This organization (https://sistering.org/impact/) provides a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental space for women and gender-diverse people, providing low-barrier access to:
- Trauma-informed crisis support & counselling
- Nutritious daily meals & snacks
- Housing help
- Harm reduction support
- On-site primary healthcare and psychiatry
- Employment support
- Showers, access to hygiene items
- Phones, computers, Internet
- Laundry
- and recreation and learning opportunities
Jamie and i noticed it was a smaller group of walkers this year. The amount of money raised to date is also lower than last year.
Times are hard, and it's a tougher economy than last year - we get that. We also know how much more the most vulnerable in our communities need help.
If you can make even a small contribution, therefore, i invite you to donate now - it's not too late! Please click the "donate now" button above, or here: https://cnoy.w-ith.me/SponsorJanet
On behalf of the Sistering community, thank you very much!
