I am the House Manager at Abbeyfield Ottawa and have been involved with the house for about 9 years now. Seeing how the community within the house has improved the lives of our residents has been very rewarding. As independent-living seniors, our residents' main reason for joining our house is to not feel lonely or alone anymore.

I am taking part in this event to help the House keep residents' monthly fees as low as possible while providing a quality home and food for them. It is heartbreaking every time I get a call from a senior looking for a new home and they say they cannot afford even us - and being nonprofit, we are NOT expensive. We, as a society, need to make sure this stops!
